Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Introduction

The International Journal of Intelligent Systems, Mechanics and Energy (IJISME) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical publishing and integrity in scientific research.

The journal follows internationally recognized guidelines and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness in scholarly publishing.

This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher involved in the publication process.

Responsibilities of Authors

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their submitted work is original and has not been published previously or submitted simultaneously to another journal.

All sources of information must be properly cited, and any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.

Multiple or Concurrent Submissions

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.

Submitting identical or substantially similar work to multiple journals constitutes unethical publishing behavior.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to:

  • The conception or design of the research

  • Data collection or analysis

  • Drafting or critically revising the manuscript

All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.

Data Integrity and Reproducibility

Authors must present their results accurately and honestly.

Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data is considered scientific misconduct.

Authors should retain research data and be prepared to provide it if requested by the editorial team.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the research results or interpretation.

All sources of funding for the research must be clearly acknowledged.

Responsibilities of Editors

Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief and editorial board of IJISME are responsible for deciding which manuscripts should be published based on:

  • Scientific merit

  • Originality

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope

  • Reviewer recommendations

Editorial decisions are made independently and without discrimination.

Confidentiality

Editors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents.

Information about a submitted manuscript must not be shared with anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and editorial staff.

Conflict of Interest

Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest related to authors, institutions, or funding sources.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions by providing objective and constructive evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

Confidentiality

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share or discuss them with others.

Objectivity and Constructive Feedback

Reviews should be conducted objectively and professionally. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

Reviewers should clearly express their views with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

They should also inform editors of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published work.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers must decline the review if they have conflicts of interest with the authors, institutions, or research topic.

Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher of IJISME is responsible for ensuring that the publication process follows ethical standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.

The publisher supports the editorial board in handling ethical issues and maintaining the integrity of the academic record.

Handling Ethical Misconduct

If unethical behavior or research misconduct is suspected, the journal will follow appropriate procedures to investigate the issue.

Actions may include:

  • Requesting clarification from authors

  • Rejecting the manuscript

  • Publishing corrections or retractions

  • Informing the authors’ institutions when necessary

All investigations will be conducted in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Corrections and Retractions

If significant errors or ethical issues are discovered after publication, the journal may issue:

  • Corrections for minor errors

  • Expressions of concern when misconduct is suspected

  • Retractions when findings are invalid or unethical practices are confirmed
